How is the job market in Florida? Depends on where you go. Go to Clearwater, St. Pete/Tampa, Miami, Orlando and "all places near the water" and
you'll do better than in other areas.
I live and teach in a small town and most of my students find employment somewhere outside this area.
It also helps to hold more than one license!
Since we get alot of tourists, (spa's, medi spas, and resort spa's are opening up all over the place) being dual licensed really helps getting a job.
Most of our students are either nailtech/esthetician (full specialist) or Esthetician/LMT Original comment »

please give me access to "our eyes only".
btw, I ran across a non-related site that was so easy for me to drill into that I saved it to share with you. I just didn't want you to think I was
criticizing anything so was hesitant to send the link. Just some thinking out loud ideas and will get them to you in a couple of days. Doesn't hurt my
feelings one iota if you don't like anything. It's worth it if you find even one tiny idea that is helpful. It's the reason I asked for your
personal email a while back.
Hey there Marion, just read your message of 6/14 - do you think I've been busy or what? hahaha. Anyway, to answer yr question - I work full time in and
office and go to school full time. It's a killer and sometimes puts me straight to zombie-land. On the other hand, it defintely keeps me too busy to
waste time thinking about my troubles.
I work for State of CA and if you watch the news at all - life is rough out here. Arnold (Schwarzenegger) just cut out salary another 5%. We are furloughed 3
days per month without pay. First 3 Fridays of each month - the entire State shuts down. The only Depts that are open are CA Hiway Patrol, Prisons,
Unemployment and a sprinkling of others. Don't even think about trying to go pay your auto registration or calling the State Board of Barbering and
Cosmetology. We were at 10% until this month, now 15% (3 days) and they are toying with a fourth day right now. Hordes of state workers are all facing
bankruptcy, esp if more that 1 family member is a state worker, are the greater Sacramento area is one of the hardest hit in the country. I'm in school
for my 2 yr degree so I can go up the career path. Life is pretty hard in this area. People are getting a bit shell shocked as reality cuts deeper and
deeper, emotionally.
I decided last year to get things organized so that I can get back to my esty work, both for some balance in my life and desperately needed cash. I should be
ready by Aug 1. It's going to be rough giving up my Sundays as that's when I do homework, clean house, rest, etc. However, I'm so grateful that I
have the ability to increase my cash flow with skin care.
After a some research, I've decided to lower my prices for the first time ever. I'm serious about luring new customers and keeping them coming back.
I own all my equipment and back bar - so no lease payments, etc. My facials are going to be $45 for 50 - 60 mins. I can't believe that I've just
typed that. They are going to get everything for one price. Enzymes, microdermabrasion, serums (I custom blend so this won't cost much), 2 masks, LED,
and just a bit of Vodder MLD and/or Reiki to put them straight to dreamland. Should be super effective. What they won't get is all the frills and massage,
credit card machine.
I don't want to appear to have a lack of confidence or scared or desperate. I want this to be one, deep reduction and that's that. One quality that I
have in person is the ability to engage people easily. Most folks like me and I've learned to use that well over the years.
I'm simply addressing the current economy with the deep reduction. Any other way might look desperate. If this doesn't work - I might have to claim a
street corner with a lamp downtown and hope to find customers that like middle aged hookers!!
How about you - how has the economy affected business?
